In the midst of much tension and conflict in the Middle-East, hope still exists. Most headlines covering the Israel/Palestine conflict these days focus on violence and despair; failing to recognize the beauty of life that still exists there. Despite their differences, these Jewish-Arab couples are fighting for peace and showing the world that true love conquers all.
An Israeli-American and a Lebanese-American
She’s a modern-day Juliet, and he’s her Romeo, or so the media has dubbed them. “He calls me neshama, I call him habibi,” Lebanese-American Sulome Anderson wrote underneath a picture of her and her Israeli-American boyfriend kissing. The post was retweeted over 2,000 times. “It’s not about being Jewish or Arab. Because when it comes down to it, we love each other. That’s what matters,” Anderson said to the New York Daily News. The two have stayed together in spite of their backgrounds; his family is Orthodox and supports the Israeli government, where as her Muslim family sympathizes more with the Palestinian perspective.
